Jasmine the Cat 13: One of these things is not like the others

Jasmine hated the smell of oranges. If I were ever to peel an orange, she would first sniff it and then proceed to GTFO as fast as she possibly could. I'm not too sure why she hated the smell of oranges. But one thing is for sure -- I learned to peel them when she was not around!

An Impossible Decision

Before ordering lunch, my boyfriend asked me "bears or cheetahs?" I had no clue why he asked me this, and I was so indecisive I couldn't choose one versus the other. Then, he gives me an ultimatum. He says to me, "you have to pick or I'm not ordering lunch" and I thought about it, fidgeted a bit, and finally said, "no, I honestly can't decide!"

So, the waitress comes by and my boyfriend is looking at me, with a conniving glare. I place my order, the waitress turns to my boyfriend, but he says to me, "look I'm not ordering until you pick one."

Augh. I just couldn't! I love both animals, how could I possibly cut one out?!

Half smiling, half wincing, I mutter, "I honestly can't decide..." so finally, he caves and orders a beef dish. And I ask him, "what was that about?"

He sighs and responds, "I just wanted you to help me choose between beef and chicken. Bear was for beef, Cheetah was for chicken."

Jasmine the Cat 11: A tad spoiled, are we?

This is based on true events. One day I made the mistake of giving Jasmine bottled water.
And from that day, she became a bit of a water snob!
She drank better water than me! Preferred brand: DASANI ®.
Hope you all are having a great week!

My not-so-secret fascination: Top famous libraries to visit

I have always had a fascination with libraries. This fascination started when I was very little. Like I've mentioned in my previous posts, I'm a small town girl. There wasn't much to do in a small town as a child, but I always found a home at our local library. I would read, and read, and read until I had to go home! And I am still fascinated by libraries to this day.

One day I hope to go on an international library tour. Below are a few of the places I would love to see.

Yale Medical Library

our-culture/if-architecture-could-speak-at-yale.html
Being a premed, of course this medical library was the first one that came to mind. Formerly known as the Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library, this library houses an extraordinary collection of medical literature. I am most interested in their Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts. And, of course, the beautiful architecture of the library itself.

Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana

Located in Venice, this library, designed by Sansovino, is absolutely beautiful. Construction of this building began in 1537 and did not finish until 50 years later. It's ceiling contains twenty-one canvases painted by seven different artists.

Rijksmuseum Research Library

If there is one reason to go to Amsterdam, this is it for me. The Rijksmuseum Research Library is an art history library that contains 350,000 volumes. While I am theoretically in Amsterdam, I would also like to visit the Rijksmuseum in order to view a famous painting known as "The Night Watch," completed in 1964 by Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn.

Unfortunately, the Walker library is not open to the public -- rather, you have to be invited here or be an exceptionally important person. This private library, located in Ridgefield, Connecticut, has over 50 000 volumes!

The pickiest vegetarian: five "edible" things that taste gross!

Confession time: I've been called a picky eater all of my life. There are a lot of "edible" foods out there that I am not particularly found of, and I've listed them below for you. Sure, you may say I'm a spoiled brat. That I should be happy to eat whatever is on my plate. Personally, I think everyone has preferences when it comes to food. In my case, there's just a few more dislikes than usual.

1. Tofu and Other Processed Meat Substitutes

Ah -- but she's a vegetarian! Well, yes, but this stuff actually makes me cringe! The texture... the look... and the taste! I would much rather eat beans and chickpeas than a slice of tofurkey.

Ugh...

2. Bitter vegetables

People rave about the unique taste provided by onions and peppers. Some might actually say they're sweet, and not bitter. I think I have different tastebuds than normal people because these vegetables are utterly disgusting in my opinion. I don't cook with them, I'd rather add flavour with garlic. And I'm so thankful that the Indian restaurant nearby does not add onions to their chana masala - hallelujah!
Assortment of bitter things...

3. Egg

In moderation, eggs are tolerable, and a very good source of protein. A particularly exceptional use for eggs is in baking. But eating them by themselves? I'd rather not because I've always hated the texture!

4. "Fancy" Cheese

Every once in a while, I'll visit a friend who can't wait for me to try a slice of fancy cheese they've just purchased. Last night, for instance, I tried blue cheese. My face shrivelled into a wrinkly mess, as if I were to have licked the floor of a rotten attic. Needless to say I couldn't finish my portion.

Portuguese Cheese

5. Melons and other odd fruit (exception watermelon)

This is a full on taste thing. Indescribable, really, just the taste is so off!

Cantaloupe

Honeydew

So there you go! A list of foods I cannot stand to eat. Please comment below -- let me know if I'm just crazy, my tastebuds are defective, or if you agree with some of my choices.

And look at the time -- it's 12:40 PM! Time to cook myself a nice lunch :)

I think you all deserve an explanation about my rekindled hobby...

Hi Everyone!

Happy Wednesday. In case you were wondering why I've been drawing so much lately, it's really just an excuse for me to do something I love while I wait for the news. When I was a little girl I remember going to my parents shop each day from school. And when I was too young to do the *tougher* jobs, I would sweep the floors. Sometimes I would bag merchandise, or clear out tables. But when I was done, I remember waiting for my parents to finish up the day and spend my time drawing. Whatever I could. I would draw people walking in the streets. The view from the window. I loved drawing trees and clouds. I guess not much has changed :)

And as I grew older, I started to decorate cakes at the shop. And I soon become a pastry decorator. So now, often when I am awaiting news, or am feeling anxious, I like to bake and share it with friends. But because I can't share these things with you all, I draw instead.

I hope you've enjoyed the comics.
More to come!
