Confessions of a Med Student: Food!

And another Sunday, linking up
with Alyx from
Every day is a new adventure.

1. Even when I have a busy schedule, I try to cook food every night!
Sometimes I'll do take out, but the most relaxing part of my day is when I come home, see what's in the fridge, and get cooking! Baking is even more therapeutic (click on the tasty treat below to see my Crème brûlée recipe)!

2. I LOVE to watch Gordon Ramsay.
He is bloody amazing. My boyfriend and I will have MasterChef marathons, though we have to watch it while eating dinner or else we'll become far too hungry!

3. My favourite soup to make is Mushroom Soup.
I promise to upload the recipe sometime soon! It's delicious, and though I use veggie broth, you can also use beef broth if you prefer a meatier flavour. My mom used to cook it for me when I was little, and still I cook it every time I get sick! Or whenever I miss mamma's cooking.

4. You can basically win me over by taking me out to a fancy Italian restaurant.
My bf realized this early on ;)

5. My go-to dish is fried rice.
Again, I'll post the recipe soon! Super easy to make, I learned how to create this from (who else) - my mamma.

Thanks for reading!
Question for you all: What is your favourite dish to cook?

    1. Hi Kelvin!

Your name reminds me of a certain unit for measuring heat :) haha. I'm actually not keeping up with new episodes - I confess! We are moving through old episodes one season at a time. What season are they on now?! Hopefully it never ends.

Oh and I hear you on the spaghetti! I'll post a recipe soon on a Ramsay recipe I've modified for vegetarians!

    1. You can always learn to cook! It's contagious - start with one dish, then master it, find another one, master that. And on and on it goes!
Appreciation for food is good to have :) oh, and wine. Lovely, lovely wine!

  6. I am exactly the same, cooking is my release at the end of the day! I think it comes from the fact that my academic efforts rarely produce anything tangible, and so cooking a wonderful and elaborate meal for family or friends helps fill that need to have "done something".
Also, I am really addicted to Master Chef!

    1. Do you mean "Pastel de nata" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastel_de_nata) or "Queijadas" (basically custard cups without the pastry).

I love quiejadas! My very Portuguese mamma used to make them all the time as I was growing up. They're both super yummy!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  12. That's good that you try to cook every night, even if you're tired. It's definitely healthier for you, rather than buying fast food! I got to get into a habit like that. The fried rice looks delicious!

  13. My go-to is tacos. Cook pretty much whatever you happen to have in the fridge (meat, vegetables, beans, eggs, or even just some grated cheese if you're really out of food) and wrap it up in a corn tortilla. Love it.
